Simon Mathews

SM Aviation is based in Sydney, Australia and provides aviation services which include Aircraft Sales, importation and management and personalised flight training for owners.

Mr. Simon Mathews is the company’s principal; an Australian commercial pilot and qualified flight instructor who commenced flying in 1976. A member of the RAAF Reserve, graduating from the Australian Joint Anti-Submarine School at HMAS Albatross in 1980, he held senior management roles in the airfreight and express transport industry at both Mayne Nickless and TNT for over fifteen years in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth and was National Aviation Manager for Chubb Security.

In 1997 he joined the new Cessna dealership in Sydney and was later, sales and demonstration pilot for EADS Socata Group’s TBM700 in the region, as well as having flown for the Royal Flying Doctor Service of Australia.

Aviation has taken him to Papua New Guinea, USA, Europe and Asia; he has extensive experience throughout regional and remote Australia. He has ferried aircraft from France and across the Pacific; and worked extensively with customers in government and business.

Mr. Mathews is currently completing his MBA at the Australian Graduate School of Management, UNSW.

Today, he remains an active company pilot and flight instructor and manages the business.
